Hello Readers!

We’re back in Washington now after six weeks in Tucson, each week a building block on the last to finish research for Jericho.

From finding the fictional location of the mining town of Jericho . . .

To spending a day with the curator of the Oracle Historical Society . . .

To interviewing Arizona mining experts  . . .

To visiting the historic mining town of Jerome, Arizona . . .

To making a quick trip to the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum . . .

To long, long nights reading and long, long days writing . . .

I have the first draft of a manuscript!

Jericho is going to early readers this month before landing on the editor’s desk later this summer. Pub date is scheduled for Fall 2022 with She Writes Press . . . so stay tuned!

Award News

Congratulations to Answer Creek! In addition to winning the Arizona Authors Association Literary Award, Answer Creek recently won Best Second Novel in the Next Generation Indie Awards and Best Regional Fiction (West-Mountain) in the Independent Publishers Association (IPPY) Awards. The novel was also named as one of five finalists for the Western Fictioneers Peacemaker Award.

Taking a Break

I’ll be taking a break from my newsletter in July and August but I’ll be back in September with a giveaway of the new audiobook of Answer Creek (due out this summer), plus new updates on Jericho and other news.

In the meantime, we’ll be out boating and visiting kids and grandkids and family and friends we haven’t seen in over a year. And reading (I’ve gifted myself a stack of new novels to read this summer—no research in sight!)
